Shoe size chart by foot length
Foot length is the longest foot each size fits on the US standard (Brannock) scale, which adidas and Nike men's charts match within 0.1 cm. EU follows Nike's chart; brands vary by about half a size.

Women's shoe size chart by foot length
On the US standard (Brannock) scale, each women's size fits a foot up to a set length, and each whole size adds 1/3 inch. A women's 8 fits a foot up to 9.67 inches (24.6 cm). The table follows the same rule as the calculator, with EU from Nike's chart.
Nike's women's chart runs half a size higher than this scale, so a foot that is a women's 8 here is a women's 8.5 at Nike. To convert to men's sizes, see women's to men's shoe sizes.

How to measure your shoe size at home
Measure at the end of the day, after you have been on your feet, because feet expand during the day. Brannock, the maker of the foot measurer used in shoe stores, advises fitting shoes at a similar time of day to when you will wear them. Wear the socks you plan to wear with the shoes, and stand with your weight evenly on both feet so each foot spreads to its full length.
Use the wall method. Tape a sheet of paper to a hard floor with one edge against a wall, stand on it with your heel touching the wall, and have someone mark the tip of your longest toe with the pen held straight up. The longest toe is not always the big toe. Measure from the wall to the mark.
Measure both feet, because many people have one foot longer than the other, and use the longer one. If the length falls between two sizes, choose the larger, as Nike advises. Enter the length in the calculator above to get your US, UK and EU size.

Questions about shoes
How do I convert women's to men's shoe sizes?
On the US standard scale, subtract 1 from a women's size to get the men's size, so a women's 9 is a men's 8. Nike's chart uses a 1.5 difference, so at Nike a women's 9 is a men's 7.5.
What is my size in EU?
For men, a US 9 is about EU 42.5 and a US 10 is about EU 44. Brands differ by up to half a size, so check the brand's own chart when you can.
How do I measure my foot?
Stand on a sheet of paper with your heel against a wall, mark the tip of your longest toe, and measure. Measure both feet, use the longer one, and measure in the evening, when feet are at their largest.
What do D, 2E and 4E mean?
These letters are shoe widths. For men, D is regular, 2E is wide and 4E is extra wide. For women, B is regular, D is wide and 2E is extra wide.
Are Converse sized differently?
Yes. Most Chuck Taylors use unisex sizing, which is men's sizes, so women usually go 2 sizes down from their women's size. Converse also says Chucks run about half a size large.
