Snowboard size chart and calculator
Your weight picks the board. Your height only gets a vote.
Weigh yourself and check your boot size. We'll give you a board length for how you ride, tell you whether you need a wide board, and show boards in that size.
Built from the size charts of Jones Snowboards, evo and K2 Snowboarding.

- 1Rider weightWeigh yourself in light clothes. Brands size boards by body weight, so skip the jacket and gear.
- 2Rider heightStand barefoot with your back to a wall and mark the top of your head. Measure from the floor to the mark.
- 3Snowboard boot sizeRead the US size inside your snowboard boots. Women's sizes run 1.5 above men's, so a women's 11.5 is a men's 10.

What size snowboard do I need?
Your weight sets your snowboard length. On the Jones chart this tool starts from, a 150 lb intermediate rider on an all-mountain board gets a 150-153 cm board, and a 190 lb rider gets a 158-161 cm board. Stood on its tail, the right board usually reaches between your chin and nose.
Height, ability and riding style then adjust the length. Height moves it by at most 3 cm. Beginners go about 2 cm shorter, so the board turns easily, and advanced riders about 1 cm longer. Park riders go about 3 cm shorter and powder riders about 3 cm longer (Jones and K2).
Your boot size decides the board's width. Your boots should hang over the edges only slightly, about 1-2 cm per side (K2), so a big boot needs a wide (W) board. Read the US size inside your snowboard boots; a women's size is 1.5 above the men's size, so a women's 11.5 is a men's 10.
| Boot size (US men's) | Board width |
|---|---|
| 10 or smaller | Regular width |
| 10.5 | Wide (W), or a mid-wide board with a 255-259 mm waist |
| 11 or larger | Wide (W) |
Questions about snowboards
Does weight or height matter more for snowboard size?
Weight matters more. Jones and REI size boards by weight alone, and evo and K2 use height only to fine-tune. A rider who is light for their height should still pick the shorter end of the range.
Should a beginner get a shorter board?
Yes, slightly. Jones suggests about 1-2 cm shorter than the chart, because a shorter board is easier to turn while you learn.
How much shorter is a park board?
About 2-4 cm shorter than an all-mountain board, according to Jones and K2. Powder and freeride boards go 2-4 cm longer for float.
Do I need a wide snowboard?
If your US men's boot size is 10.5 or larger, a wide or mid-wide board is the usual choice. Jones, evo and Lib Tech start wide sizes at 10.5, and K2 at 11. Your boots should hang only slightly over the edges, about 1-2 cm per side (K2).
What size snowboard does my kid need?
Kids' boards are sized by weight. For example, Burton's Grom 120 cm is for 50-80 lb riders. A good kids' board usually stands between the child's chest and chin (evo).
