Sleeping bag sizes: length and width for your height
Long enough for your feet, wide enough to roll over.
Measure your height, and your shoulders if they are broad or you sleep on your side. We'll give you the bag length and width that fit, and show bags whose listing confirms it.

Questions about sleeping bags
What size sleeping bag do I need?
Pick by height. Nemo, Marmot, Kelty and Big Agnes all make regular bags that fit sleepers up to 6 feet and long bags that fit up to 6 feet 6 inches, and most also make a short or women's regular for up to 5 feet 6 inches.
How do I know if I need a wide sleeping bag?
Measure around your shoulders with your arms at your sides, over what you sleep in, and add 10 inches, as Feathered Friends recommends. REI puts a standard bag's shoulder girth at 60 to 64 inches, so if your number is higher, look at wide versions, which usually run about 69 to 72 inches.
What does "fits up to 6 ft" mean?
It is the tallest sleeper the maker designed the bag for, so a 6-foot sleeper fits a regular. The bag itself is longer than that number, because the hood and footbox need room.
What size sleeping bag for a child?
Most kids' bags fit children up to 5 feet, such as Kelty's Mistral and Callisto, and a few go to 5 feet 5 inches. Smaller kids' bags stop at 3 to 4 feet, so check the listed fit height.
Do you recommend how warm a bag should be?
No. Sizemaven sizes bags by length and width only. Warmth ratings come from the maker, and choosing one depends on conditions we cannot check.
