Golf club length by height (PING chart)
Follows PING's static fitting chart, with TaylorMade's wrist-to-floor bands for the half-inch rows and women's set heights from Callaway, Cobra and Wilson. Juniors use Callaway XJ heights: 38-46, 47-53, 54-61 and 62-66 in. A fitting is better than any chart.

Standard golf club lengths
The GolfWorks, a club-making supplier, publishes the standard lengths below. In a men's set the irons step down half an inch per club, from 39 inches for a 3-iron to 36 inches for a 9-iron. Women's standard clubs are about an inch shorter: 1 inch shorter for the driver and every iron, and three quarters of an inch for the 3-wood.
Irons are for steel shafts; graphite-shafted irons are built half an inch longer. Woods are for shafts of 65 grams or more, and a lighter shaft adds half an inch. Brands' stock lengths vary, so check the spec sheet for your model, and see how to measure golf club length to check your own clubs.

Questions about golf clubs
How do I measure wrist-to-floor?
Stand straight in your normal shoes with your arms hanging relaxed. Measure from the crease where your wrist meets your hand straight down to the floor.
What is standard length?
There is no single industry standard, but most men's 7-irons are about 37 inches and women's clubs are about 1 inch shorter through the set. PING's chart says golfers about 5'7" to 6'0" fit standard length.
How much does height change club length?
PING's chart changes length in half-inch steps: half an inch shorter at 5'4" to 5'6", an inch shorter at 5'2" to 5'3", half an inch longer at 6'1" to 6'3", and an inch longer at 6'4" to 6'5".
Is this the same as a club fitting?
No. This gives a starting length from your height. A fitter watches you hit balls, then adjusts length, lie angle and shaft to your swing. If you can get fitted, do.
What size golf clubs does my child need?
Junior sets are sized by height. Callaway's XJ sets, for example, fit 38-46 inches, 47-53 inches and 54-61 inches tall. Measure your child in shoes.
