Ski size chart and length calculator

Shorter skis to learn. Longer skis to charge.

Measure your height, and add your weight if you know it. We'll give you a ski length for how and where you ski, with skis in that length.

Built from the size charts of evo, Line Skis and Rossignol size guide (Summit Collective).

How long should my skis be for my height?

Stood on their tails, most skis reach somewhere between your chin and the top of your head (evo). Height sets the starting point and ability moves you within that range: beginners go about 11 cm under their height, because shorter skis turn easily. Intermediates go about 4 cm under their height, and advanced skiers about 3 cm over it, for stability at speed.

Where you ski moves it a few more centimeters: 3 cm shorter for carving on groomed runs, 4 cm shorter for the park, and 4 cm longer for powder (Line). For example, a 5'10" (178 cm) intermediate on all-mountain skis lands at about 174 cm, so the calculator gives 170-174 cm. For a child, see the kids' ski size chart.

Questions about skis

How long should my skis be?

Most skiers fit between the chin and the top of the head. For a 6' (183 cm) skier, evo's chart gives about 170 cm for a beginner and 188 cm for an expert.

Should beginners ride shorter skis?

Yes. Shorter skis are easier to turn and more forgiving. evo, Line and Rossignol put beginners about 10-15 cm shorter than their height.

Do powder skis need to be longer?

Usually. Line adds 2-5 cm for powder and freeride, and Salomon sizes freeride skis 5-10 cm taller than the skier, because longer skis float better in soft snow.

Does my weight change ski length?

A little. Line and Outdoor Horizon move the length 1-3 cm for skiers who are lighter or heavier than average for their height.

What size skis does my child need?

Kids' skis should come up between the chest and the nose (evo). Cautious beginners go nearer the chest, and fast, confident kids go nearer the nose.
