- 1Hand circumferenceWrap a soft tape around your dominant hand at the knuckles, below the thumb, with the fingers together. Keep the tape snug but flat; do not include the thumb.
- 2Hand lengthLay your hand flat, palm up. Measure from the crease where the wrist meets the palm to the tip of the middle finger.
Glove size by hand circumference
Follows the EN ISO 21420 glove scale (medium is 8 in around, large is 9), with Carhartt's women's sizes. Rows on a boundary are between sizes: work gloves size down, winter and sport gloves size up. Women's hands over 8.75 in use men's or unisex sizes.

Questions about gloves
How do I measure my hand for gloves?
Wrap a soft tape around your hand at the knuckles, fingers together and thumb out. That number in inches is your circumference. For length, measure from the crease at your wrist to the tip of your middle finger.
What size is an 8-inch or 9-inch hand?
On the international glove scale, about 8 inches around is a medium and about 9 inches is a large. Under Armour runs a size smaller, so a 9-inch hand is an Under Armour XL.
I'm between sizes. Which do I pick?
For work gloves, size down: Mechanix and Ironclad both recommend a snug fit. For insulated winter gloves, size up, because insulation takes up room. For sport gloves, use your larger measurement, as Under Armour advises.
Are women's glove sizes different?
Yes. A women's medium is about 7 inches around at Carhartt, while a men's medium is about 8 inches. If your hand is over about 8 inches, try men's or unisex sizes.
What size gloves does my child need?
Most kids' gloves are sold by age. The North Face, for example, sizes kids' small for ages 6-8, medium for 9-11 and large for 12-14.
