Printable ring sizer
By the Sizemaven team. Checked against its sources October 14, 2026.
Print this page at 100% scale, with "Fit to page" turned off, and check that the 100 mm mark on the printed ruler measures exactly 100 mm. Then lay a ring that fits on the circles: the circle that matches its inside edge is your size, from 14.9 mm for size 4 to 21.4 mm for size 12. Or cut out the strip and wrap it around your finger.

Print the ring sizer at 100% scale
Blue Nile and VRAI both say to print a ring sizer at actual size, because a printer that scales the page makes every circle the wrong size. The sizer above is drawn in millimeters, so it prints at true size on US Letter or A4 paper when the scale is right.
- 1Open the print dialogPrint this page from your browser. The sizer is the drawing near the top of the page.
- 2Set the scale to 100%Choose "Actual size" or a scale of 100%. Turn off "Fit to page", "Shrink to fit" and "Fit to printable area".
- 3Print in black and whiteColor does not matter. The lines and numbers print in black.
Check the print with a ruler
Before you use the sizer, hold a real ruler or tape measure against the printed millimeter ruler. The 0 and 100 marks must be exactly 100 mm apart, and the 0 and 5 inch marks exactly 5 inches apart.
A small scaling error matters. Whole sizes are only 0.8 mm apart in diameter, so a print that is 2% small makes a size 7 circle 0.35 mm too small, which is almost half a size. On the 100 mm line, the same error is 2 mm, which you can see with any ruler.
If the printed line is not 100 mm, check the scale setting and print again. Do not use a sheet that fails this check.
Use the circles with a ring that fits
- 1Pick the right ringUse a round ring that fits the finger and hand the new ring is for.
- 2Lay it on the circlesBrilliant Earth's instruction is to align the inside edge of the ring with the closest circle. The circle's line should just show along the ring's inner edge all the way around.
- 3Between two circlesIf the ring falls between two circles, choose the larger size, as Blue Nile and Brilliant Earth advise.
The number below each circle is its inside diameter. If you measured a ring with calipers instead, enter that number in the ring size calculator.
Use the strip on your finger
Cut out the strip along the dashed line. Wrap it around the base of your finger with the numbers facing out, slide the start end under, and read the size where the start edge meets the marks. Long marks are whole sizes and short marks are half sizes.
Paper slips and tears, so read it two or three times, later in the day when fingers are largest. The ring size measuring guide covers knuckles and wide bands, which can change the size you buy.
How accurate a printable ring sizer is
A correctly printed sizer is a close estimate. A jeweler's sizer, the set of metal or plastic rings in half sizes, is more accurate, and Brilliant Earth says a professional fitting gives the most accurate result. GIA advises against paper sizers because paper can tear, curl and shrink.
Use a jeweler, or a ring sizer you can order for a few dollars, before you buy an expensive ring or a band that cannot be resized, such as tungsten, titanium or ceramic.
Questions
Can I use a ring sizer on my phone screen?
Not this one. Screens show the sizer at whatever width fits, so the circles are not true size. Print it at 100% scale and check the ruler.
Does it work on A4 paper?
Yes. The sizer is drawn in millimeters, so it is the same size on US Letter or A4 as long as the scale is 100%. Check the printed 100 mm line either way.
What if the printed ruler is a little off?
Print it again with the scale set to 100% or "Actual size". Even a 2% error moves a size 7 circle by almost half a size.
Is a printable ring sizer accurate enough for an engagement ring?
It is a good first estimate. For an expensive ring, confirm with a jeweler's sizer, which Brilliant Earth says gives the most accurate result.
